Everyone starts somewhere
This path bundles the Jazz Improvisation taster groups with first-principles essentials: how to practise, how to read a simple chart, how to keep time with others. You'll play recognisable tunes within weeks and join a beginner band before the term is out.
Instruments can be borrowed for the first month, so nothing stands between you and starting.
What the path includes
- Beginner group lessons on your chosen instrument or voice
- Essentials workshops: rhythm, reading and practice habits
- First-songs repertoire you pick yourself
- A beginner-band debut at the informal studio evening
Who fits this path
Children from five, teens trying a first instrument, and adults finally acting on a decades-old itch. Zero experience expected — enthusiasm required.
"I'd never touched an instrument at forty-two. Six months later I played three songs with a band — my kids still talk about it." — Michael B., theory student
