Stop reading notes, start telling stories
Soloing is where jazz comes alive — the point you look up from the page and play what you hear. This year-round group walks newer and improving players through that shift, from a first blues scale to stretching out over full changes.
Expect listening homework, hands-on drills and plenty of blowing with a real rhythm section, so every idea gets tested in actual music the same week.
Skills you will take home
- Blues, major and minor scales — matched to the right moments
- Hearing everyday progressions, the ii–V–I included, by ear and on paper
- Solo architecture: motifs, phrasing, dynamics and leaving space
- Trading fours and grooving with piano, bass and drums
- Stealing licks from the masters and reshaping them as yours
Is it your level?
If you can play a little and follow a basic chart or lead sheet, you are ready. Pianists, guitarists, horns, bass, drums and voices all jam side by side, sorted into groups by experience.
"I arrived with three chords and left soloing over a twelve-bar blues. Jazz here feels like an invitation, never an exam." — Daniel R., guitar student
